Our Story | Cambiar al Mundo

It all began in a natural science class.

Clau drew three people: her two siblings and herself. It was more than a school assignment—it was a clear and powerful idea: real change is built collectively. From an early age, Clau looked for ways to create social impact, protect the environment, and strengthen her community. That drawing was never forgotten. Over time, the idea grew, turned into action, and today it has become a reality. That is how Cambiar al Mundo was born.

Cambiar al Mundo was founded in 2018 as a youth-led initiative driven by a group of volunteers committed to environmental education and social action, led by Claudia and Teresa Vázquez. From its earliest steps, the project has focused on generating a positive impact in society through concrete actions that promote collective well-being and environmental protection.

We are a youth initiative originating from the Sierra Gorda region of Querétaro, Mexico, formed by young people committed to social, environmental, and cultural transformation. Our purpose is to generate positive impact at the local, municipal, state, national, and international levels by fostering youth empowerment, sustainable community action, and informed civic participation.

Over the years, Cambiar al Mundo has developed a variety of projects focused on key issues such as environmental protection, climate change, gender equality, the rights of Indigenous peoples, children’s rights, and the promotion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These initiatives aim to raise awareness, educate communities, and inspire collective action toward building a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.

Our mission is to promote the active participation of young people in the social, environmental, and cultural transformation of their communities through sustainable projects that encourage environmental education, youth leadership, inclusion, and climate action.Our vision is to become a leading youth organization in Mexico and Latin America in promoting sustainable, equitable, and participatory development led by young people committed to social justice and the protection of our planet.

At Cambiar al Mundo, our values guide every action we take: commitment to our communities and the environment, innovation to create sustainable and creative solutions, solidarity with social and environmental causes, sustainability in every decision, inclusion as the foundation of respect and participation, collaboration with local and international networks, and youth leadership as a driving force for positive change.
